This site, now in its 27th season, is a labour of love and fun from one of Ottawa's most avid time trialists and number crunchers. It adheres to and is permitted by the laws of Canada, promotes the objectives of every bicycle club whose results are shown, and is donated free of charge by myself for your enjoyment and usage. If you would like results from series you ride in to be shown here, give me (celia.mcinnis@gmail.com) a shout!
NOTE that this site had to be quickly moved to a new server with a new version of Perl. Unfortunately the way of interacting with the web form has changed, so I'll have to do some reprogramming to get the buttons and search boxes working. Meanwhile the links work fine and you can always add query specifications into the URL! :-)

Despite uncertain weather conditions, forty-two riders did the 2012-Aug-12 Heckston 40km time trial. Most of us got rained on at some point on the course, and all of us got a good long workout versus the gusty winds on the way out. For the early departers, there was a significant side wind from the east in addition to the head wind from the south. We expected the ride back to be difficult too, but fortunately the side winds disappeared until the last couple of kilometers. Anyway the most exciting ride was Aaron Fillion's 49:56 which is 48.064km/h! Michael Nash and Ron Amos tied for second with 53:12 or 45.113km/h. Note that, so far, only five men - Aaron Fillion, Michael Nash, Warren MacDonald, Ron Amos and Ray Duggan - have managed to do one of the ABC or OBC 40km courses with an average speed of more than 45km/h. This would be comparable to having a woman average more than 40km/h. Only two women - Sue Schlatter and Allison McKay - have done this, and neither of them have ridden yet this year. Concerning today's female competitors, Catherine Dessureault was first with 1:02:21 (38.492km/h), Veronik Bourgon second with 1:02:50 (38.196km/h), and Carol Deavy third with 1:04:14 (37.364km/h). However, with better luck (namely no flat tire) , or quicker repair skill, Claude Dréano might have taken the third place, since Claude has a 15km time this year that is faster than Carol's best. We can also look at how today's ride compares to the only previous 40km time trial race that Claude rode to substantiate this belief. Congratulations to the 14 people who improved upon their previous database best for 40km! Also, you can see a graph comparing riders' best OBC 15km and 40km time trials this year, by clicking here.

These results were posted on the OBC site circa 16:30 on 2012-Aug-12 and are available here for your added pleasure and analysis.

(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would look after the data entry. Historically, for the decade starting in 1998 I had all of the WTT series up within a few hours of the event, and likewise for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. More recently, I have written web software which can run from the start/finish lines to register, seed, calculate rider times from elapsed times and database the results immediately. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
