Afternoon showers left a legacy of wind driven cloud for the 11 who waited at the start on Tatlock Road. The absence of any of the fast markers left the contest open to those who normally finish in mid field. On this occasion, it was Steve King, riding his first time trial of the season who emerged the leader. Being one of the first to start, he opened up quite a gap on the rest of the field. In defiance of the strong breeze, second placed finisher Bill Potvin was the only rider to post a personal best, with an improvement of over 20 seconds. It was a cluster of riders who contested third place, with Peter Hicks emerging just one second ahead of fastest female, Kathleen Milne tying with Bill Mclennan for the second week in succession. While Chris Kent's 16 second deficit over last week cost him 3 places, both Laurie Weir and Bob Giles posted season's bests. It will be September before North Bay visitor, Garnet Johnson, can challenge his June performance, having finished some 12 seconds shy of that target tonight. Last placed finisher, Debbie Thomas made her season's debut with a 34 minute ride. Debbie has some 4 minutes to go to reach her 2003 form.
