John Warren comments: "Seven riders arrived at the start line to ideal conditions: sunny, a 20C temperature, and little wind; all finished. The fastest this evening was Larry Burge (OBC) in a time of 22:33 a Season Best time. Fastest from ABC was Michael Coldwell in a time of 24:04 also a Season Best time. Fastest female was Celia McInnis (ABC) in a time of 27:24 another Season Best time. This marks the end of the ABC time trial series for 2015, thank you to all of the many volunteers who helped as timekeepers and as turn marshalls. And thanks to all of the riders who participated, we couldn't do this without you! This was my and Sherry's last timetrial as official timekeeper and turn marshall; we will be available to fill in if need be, but the reins will be handed to some one, to be announced."
Celia adds: First of all - Huge thanks to John and Sherry for your years of time trial service - They were well run and, most importantly a whole lot of fun! I enjoyed so many evenings of "ideal conditions" and loved the "Wet Floor" cone used. I hope that the two of you are out frequently next year, maybe even riding a time trial if you're not needed as helpers! Note that in addition to the three season series bests mentioned above for tonight, there were also 2 database personal bests for this course - Congratulations to Larry Burge and Michael Coldwell for this distinction!
For your interest, this year (2015) there were 101 finishes on the Clayton Road 15km course and 72 finishes on the Franktown to Perth 40km course. Of these finishes, there were 66 Clayton Road 15km finishes for ABC members and 20 Franktown to Perth 40km finishes fof ABC members. The ABC BAR rankings require three Clayton Road 15km time trials and one Franktown to Perth 40km time trial. The total time taken (i.e., the average speed for the 85km total) is used for the ranking - and here are the ABC BAR results. Finally, it is interesting to look at the consistency of people's ABC best three 15km speeds and best 40km speed.
