A number of riders commented on how much slower they felt they were this year than last. It seems that so far either we have had rain or lots of wind for the WTT 15km events. Tonight it was gusty winds from the south and west - but at least it was warm enough (29°C) and dry enough to draw out 20 women. Congratulations to the two who achieved season-series improvements tonight - Mary Ajersch (27:21) with a 5.21% cube speed improvement (in her 74th year!) and Tamsin Douglas (27:35) for a 1.46% improvement in her 50th year. There were no new PBs for any rider. Generally prizes are given out at the Invitational Banquet on the last Tuesday in May in each category for those who have ridden enough WTT events - generally five, at least 4 of which must be 15km events. Some years, only 4 events (at least 3 of which must be 15km) are needed. With Canada Day having cancelled one 15km event, and thunder storms eliminating one 10km event,the odds are that only 4 events will be required, but anyway, here are the current category speed rankings if 5 events (with at least 4 15km) were required, and here are the current category speed rankings if 4 events (with at least 3 15km) are required. There are 4 more Tuesdays before the banquet to reach the required number of WTT events. Even a brand new rider can reach the requisite number if only 4 events are required, whereas any of the 45 participants who has done at least one WTT in 2014 can qualify by riding the remaining events before the last Tuesday in August.
