The heavy rainfall warning likely scared all but 23 of us away from tonight's time trial. Those of us who cycled to the event got a little wet (and dirty!), but it was dry during the event. SSE winds are probably the least favourable on this course, especially when they diminish on the return, and this contributed to the facts that only 5 out of the 17 who had ridden earlier in this series this season improved upon their season-series best and only 3 out of 19 improved upon their series best from this and last year. Congratulations to Christina Czaban for being the most improved in these regards (15.92% cube speed improvement), and to Douglas Harcourt and Katherine Maine (the fastest woman) for also improving upon their previous 15km database best. Tonight's 2nd fastest woman, Emily Flynn actually posted the biggest 15km database improvement (13.27%) with 22:24. This was her first time faster than 40km/h and was a 57 second improvement over her previous best when she was last out in 2012! It was great to have Aaron Fillion out for the first time this season. Despite a considerable amount of wheezing after the event, he managed to do an 18:39, the fastest yet this season! Here are the male times 45km/h and faster and the female ,times 40km/h and faster so far this season. The funniest picture of the night was that of Lisa Meyer's airborne pack as she left the start line. She arrived a little late and threw the pack off of her back as she departed.
