Thanks to Morley Dore for taking photos on this rather wet night! Thanks also to Dave, Anna, Barb, Nancy and Don for running the event in spite of the rain - even more rain than last week!
It was more than a little wet during this time trial! It actually felt and looked like a tsunami when a passing car went through a huge puddle near me at the 4km mark, but luckily I managed to remain upright and continued on, giddy from the excitement. Despite the high resistance of pedalling through the streams of water on the road, there was virtually no wind, and this allowed two to achieve large improvements in their personal 15km database bests. Calah Wright was happy with being able to ride again after a serious knee injury and was absolutely thrilled with achieving a new personal best, by 46 seconds, of 22:01. This was a 16.36% cube speed improvement. Kyle Caie, now in his first year of the Cadet category (15 years old, and looking a foot taller than last year) posted an 11.05% cube speed improvement with a time that was a minute and thirteen seconds faster than his previous 15km best. His grandmother, Jean Cooper, in her 71st year had her best ride yet of the season with 29:32, Her consistency over the past 25 years is awesome! Look at the Standard Deviation given at the bottom of this page of her yearly best results and take a peek at this graph of her yearly bests sorted by date! The other three of us rode well and had lots of fun. Interestingly, the finshers were in reverse order of the starters tonight - a LIFO (Last In, First Out) stack!
NOTE that there is no WTT next week (Canada Day)!
