Well that was terrifying!!! Nice low air pressure usually means fast times, but south-west winds gusting to 57km/h meant that most of us were using every bit of whatever upper body strength we had to try to keep upright. Having rather weak arms, I had to put my left foot on the ground and come to a full stop when going over the highway to avoid crashing into the pavement... I was almost a minute slower that my leisurely bunny-adorned Good Friday Time Trial venture and had sore triceps for 48 hours afterwards! A number of people withdrew before the start citing fears for their safety, leaving only 26 of us to take on the wind. Certainly those with disc wheels or deep dished wheels were at a dangerous disadvantage with the gusty side winds, and aero bars were too scary for most of us. Still (and I'm not referring to the wind here!), four people actually managed to ride faster than on Good Friday - Congratulations to you, and to all who braved this time trial. We hope to see more out with better conditions next time!
