Thanks to Morley Dore for fighting with my increasingly tempermental camera to get these shots! Thanks as well to the rest of the fine volunteers who make this event happen!
The evening started out looking and feeling a lot worse than it ended up being. The sky was quite dark, and as well there was a fair amount of wind from the SouthEast, but we were spared the rain and the wind dropped as the event proceeded. It was also helpful that the air pressure was edging its way down to 101kPa. Of the nine women who showed up to ride, four - Dianne Marleau (23:26), Celia McInnis (25:51), Barbara Wilson (29:32) and Laura Johnson (33:46) - improved upon their season-series bests and one, Marian MacKay (30:19) improved upon her previous 15km database best done on the tougher Almonte Clayton Road 15km course by almost 4 minutes! Even better, Marian's 15km average speed on tonight's course was faster than her three 10km time trials done on this course a decade ago. Congratulations.
Note as well that you can check how you're doing in the WTT awards ranking my clicking the links in the long pink box containing "WTT Rankings for All Participants" underneath the results. You are ranked in your category on your fastest five WTT events of 2015, at least four of which must be 15km events. So far, four of us qualify for the rankings, so come on out, the rest of you women, and ride some more WTT 15km events!
