A warm - ok, hot! - windy evening. Three of us love these kind of temperature and humidity conditions (humidex of 45), but the other two-thirds found themselves seriously overheated by the 10km point. Some of the riders reported serious symptoms of hyperthermia (goose bumps, shivering, wooziness), and we might have been smarter to have shortened the time trial. A special thanks to Jocelyne Beauchamp for bringing along a big jug of a cold lemon/water solution. All of us benefited from this thoughtfulness. Meanwhile, I hope that all of the riders and volunteers are now comfortably cool and have no lasting ill effects.
