The temperature was cool, the winds blustery, and the skies grey and threatening. Regardless 17 women showed up to race, and we all got a first-rate workout, both out and back, from the strong north component of the wind. April Flanders took half a minute off of her previous year-series best to place first. Lynda Hickman, looked better after her 2nd place finish than she did following her sprint beforehand to the registration area from the wrong parking lot! In third place was Courtnay Romkey, back in this series after a 3 year absence. Ignoring the event difficulty, the most improved tonight was Gay Stinson, though adjusting for the event difficulty via the Event Factor would rate Geneviève Marquis' improvement tonight over last week as being the best. So far, last week was the easiest night this season in this series, and of those who rode both last week and this week, Geneviève was the only rider who improved upon her time. Geneviève indicated that much of her betterment was due to not being impeded by traffic at the turn-around this week - so more good performances are expected!
