ABC Open TT Series - 2008-Jul-06 - 40km (Calabogie - Hwy 511) (EvtFactor= 0.9781)
Weather (08:30): Sunny. Temperature: Warm, Wind Calm.
Posted circa 19:45 2008-Jul-06.
Certainly quite a contrast to last month's ABC 40km rendition, today was sunny, warm and calm. It's not surprising that seven of the nine who competed both days improved, two by more than 10%. In fact 9 out of the 24 of us who had ridden this course previously had our best time thus far on this course with the following performance ratio to our PB on this course! Congratulations to Paul Datars and Erika Revesz for the fastest male and female times overall today. Paul also set a new VCM database record for all of the 40km courses thus far, while Erika's time today is currently fourth fastest of the VCF times, exceeded only by her database record on the easier Merrickville course last year and by two Calabogie results by Ellen Pazdzior last year. There were two people out today who were new to this course, Cheryl Levi who is new to time trials this year and who did remarkably well in this 40km relative to her 15km performances, and Leslie Reissner who is greatly enjoying (and improving in!) time trials after a 10 year absence. He had this to say about the Calabogie experience:
"I have ridden 40 km courses in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland and I have to say that with its scenery, lack of traffic, excellent roads and fine organization (and pleasant company!) this was probably one of my favourite time trial experiences." --- Leslie Reissner.
