There was a break in the rain for the time trial, but the cool temperatures and northeast winds made the night a slow one for most. Douglas van den Ham was first at 19:20 - fast yes, but only 95.67% of the cube speed of his season-series best of 19:03. Glen Rendall, in second place with the best Vetern B male 15km time this year of 19:22, posted a 3.93% improvement over his previous 2012 OTT best of 19:37 while third placed Ron Amos tied his only other 15km time this year of 19:47. None of the top three women bettered her previous 15km best of 2012. Veronik Bourgon's 22:10 was the fastest women's time of the evening, but it was 23 seconds slower than the the PB of 21:47 that she did on the 2012-Jul-24 WTT. Carol Deavy with 23:30 was closer to her season-series best of 23:23, but third place Ariane Bonhomme at 23:43 was more than a minute and a quarter off of the PB of 22:25 which she set on 2012-Jun-07. Note that of the 40 cyclists in tonight's time trial, only 7 improved and two tied their previous season series best. Congratulations to the three of those who set new all-time personal bests for 15km - Janice Campbell (25:38), Daniel Diotte (21:39) and Marcel Lavoie (21:06) - and to Brian Robitaille (21:10) who tied the PB he set last week despite more difficult weather conditions.
These results were posted on the OBC site circa 23:00 on 2012-Aug-09 and are available here for your added pleasure and analysis.
(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would look after the data entry. Historically, for the decade starting in 1998 I had all of the WTT series up within a few hours of the event, and likewise for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. More recently, I have written web software which can run from the start/finish lines to register, seed, calculate rider times from elapsed times and database the results immediately. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
