Twenty-five women and one Minime male rode in today's WTT season opener. The weather was cool and damp, but the spirits were high. Fastest of the night was Alyssa Mellon back after a two year stint with the Foreign Service in Indonesia with a quick 16:04, her database best for 10km by 1 minute and 41 seconds. Second place Emily Flynn is in her first year as a senior rider and she improved upon her sole previous 10km TT by 1 minute and 11 seconds. Third place Anita MacKinnon led the Veteran B women. The most improved in terms of their database previous best speed was our youngest rider (13 years old this year), Kyle Caie, who was thrilled to have caught and passed his grandmother, Jean Cooper. Last year they were within a few seconds of each other in both of their encounters last year. Kyle also broke the 30 km/h mark tonight by a long shot, averaging 32.057 km/h. The only other person to improve upon her previous database best speed was Beth Moxley. The most improved in terms of their previous database 10km best was Patricia Slaunwhite with a huge 1.7349 performance ratio, while the only other person to do so who has not yet been recognized was Lili Caron with a 1.0638 improvement ratio. Congratulations all.

These results were posted on the OBC site circa 21:30 on 2012-May-02 and are available here for your added pleasure and analysis.

(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would gladly do the data entry, getting the results up within a few of hours of the event, as history shows that I did for the WTT series for the decade beginning in 1998, and for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
