The Aug 13 2002 Street-Sweeper, Carcass Kicker-Offer Report

We are most fortunate to have amongst our participants a woman - a fast woman - who has taken to working the streets in her retirement years. :-) Here is her report for this week.

Hi Celia,

I finished my very easy sweep at noon today.

Inventory -- one crushed Pepsi can.

No animals seen -- alive or dead. The critters are avoiding the extreme heat.

The Parkway is also humanly-deserted. No one in their right mind is cycling today.

Bye,

Mary, S.S., C.K.O. (Sweet Sweeper, Used-To-Be-Carcass Kicker-Offer)

P.S.: The skies were sunny and the temperature hot (32°C) and humid (48%) at 17:00. Shortly after 17:30, an extremely heavy rain, wind and thunder storm hit. Those of us who were cycling to the time trial felt as if we were riding in the bathtub with the shower turned on at full pressure and the drain stopped with a plug! The sun was back out before 18:30, and we were ready to roll. A second check of "the facilities" was performed by our turn-around volunteer, Nathalie Dupuis. No broken trees, smashed or abandoned vehicles or other debris were found. The road was washed clean by the shower and somebody had even been kind enough to pull the plug to drain the course.
