Tuesday, 8 July 2003 - ABC 15k Time Trial Results

What at first appeared to be a balmy breeze ultimately turned out to be the deciding factor on this sultry evening for the ten who answered timekeeper, John Warren's call to the line.

Although of some help on the way out, the headwind return made for slower times all round, with just a few exceptions.

Catching all but three, scratchman, Jamie Johnson. fell some 20 seconds short of his June 24th ride, but way clear of second finisher Larry Burge, returning a long 23 minutes for his first ride of the season. Fred Dennis, seven seconds in his wake, finished almost half a minute faster than last week, but still almost half a minute shy of his season best.

Fourth placed Les Humphreys turned in his season fastest, yet still a minute shy of his best for this course. A tussle for fifth place saw Titia Praamsma emerge victorious, with a five second margin over Bob Giles, almost 30 seconds on Janis Zvigulis and a minute on Geoff Shewfelt.

For the second week in succession, Rebecca Kauffman tied to share 9 th place with John Brewster who bucked the slowing trend by returning a personal best.

Timekeeper John Warren was ably assisted by his wife, Sherry handling the turn.
