Thirteen women were out to ride on this rather slowish evening on which only 2 improved upon their previous 2006 WTT best, and we'll leave you to decide whether 13 is an unlucky number! Barbara Wilson, was the most improved, and racing senza all timing devices, expressed disbelief and then glee at her time. On the other hand, Celia, riding at only about 87% of her season series best cube speed, kidded that she should actually have had a weight and aerodynamic advantage after pulling two broken spokes out of her rear wheel on the way to the start line. But anyway, she got through the tt and home, which was more than could be said for Mary Ajersch who left an email that her intention to do the time trial was foiled by a completely flat rear tire. Meanwhile, of the fastest three, Kathy Bradley experimented with trying to keep above 40km/h until blow-up time (which she said occurred several km before the finish), while Zoe had a rest at the half way point waiting for a long string of cars to pass. You may click here to see a graph comparing Kathy, Nicole and Zoe in each 2006 WTT event for which at least two of them rode.
